Writers Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in writing for BLACK FAMILY MAGAZINE, the guide to living as a progressive black family today and tomorrow. We feature informative, educational how-to articles on issues involving parenting, work and money, house and home, food and health, news and culture, and sprituality.
We provide answers to questions affecting America’s black families as well as provide sensible solutions for improving relationships within the household and building a better life to support it. Word length is given upon assignment.
Please send a query letters to
info@blackfamilymag.com rather than submitting a completed manuscript. Be sure to include your name, address, daytime phone number and email address. We cannot discuss story ideas over the telephone, nor can we respond to queries that come by fax. Please allow 4-6 weeks for review.
Give us a clear one page outline of your story idea. Include a brief biography that describes your writing experience, and some clips. If you would like to submit more than one idea, write a separate query for each topic.
If we think your subject is of interest to our readers but you are a writer new to BLACK FAMILY MAGAZINE, you may be asked to submit the completed manuscript on speculation. BLACK FAMILY MAGAZINE can offer no payment at this time, however writers whose work is published on our website will receive a byline.
