Can Janet Jackson's Album Survive The Superbowl Madness?

On March 30, 2004, Janet Jackson released her eighth studio album Damita Jo after a two-year hiatus. Nearly 60 days ago the Superbowl "accident" says Janet became the most watched two-second breast display in the history of the Internet.

Like the brush fires in the hills of southern California Janet's breast was spread across the globe via thousands of media, entertainment and internet outlets in a nanosecond. As the fire raged on MTV, CBS and Justin Timberlake began to distance themselves from Ms. Jackson.

Two weeks later Janet was scheduled to perform with Prince and participate in a tribute to the ailing Luther Vandross on the Grammy Awards. The CBS network that aired the superbowl was also home to the Grammies.

The head honchos of the top music award organization asked Janet to apologize again on the show or they would rescind their invitation. Janet refused and did not appear at the ceremony. The black community supported Janet and felt Justin, the white pop star performer was given a pass.

While Janet was criticized and single out as the villain for her part in the "costume malfunction", Timberlake did apologize at the award show, performed and won a Grammy. He continued to portray himself as an unknowingly innocent victim.

One month earlier, her big brother Michael was the media darling along with basketball sensation Kobe Bryant who was indicted for sexual assault in Eagle, Colorado. The storm continued to rage on when legendary black actress Lena Horne asked Janet not to portray her in a biographical film about her life and career.

Once again Janet graciously bowed out and began to focus on her new album schedule to be released in a month and a half. The title of the album Damita Jo is Janet's middle name. The hit single "I Want You" was produced by hip-hop's new made man Kanye West.

The video for the hit single premiered on BET's popular show Access Granted. MTV who proclaimed Ms. Jackson a musical icon has not played her new video. BET and VH-1 both sister networks to MTV has added the video to their playlist.

It's been two years since the release of her last album "All For You". This was also a very tumultuous time for Janet who was beginning to put behind her a very nasty public divorce battle between her and ex-husband Rene Elizondo.

Janet Jackson the youngest of the Jackson clan has always been known as the normal one of the famous family. Will the release of Damita Jo extinguish the superbowl fire? Trying to put the controversy behind her, Janet has begun promoting her new project.

She has appeared on several major media and entertainment shows and is in the planning stages of another international world tour. In her interviews she jokingly dodges all questions related to the super bowl event. She says her new album is about love. Janet Jackson is in love with her new man (fiancé) hip-hop producer Jermaine Dupri.

Known for his discovery of young hip-hop talent Jermaine is the inspiration behind Janet's eighth release. Janet Damita Jo Jackson has sold 55 million albums worldwide. She has allowed us to witness her growth as a super talented entertainer and humanitarian.

Her musical journey began with the release of the album Control, to the sexy, confident, talented and mature Damita Jo.
